About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is enhancing pedestrian safety along State Road (S.R.) A1A in Daytona Beach and Daytona Beach Shores. Two new midblock crossings with pedestrian-activated signals called Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) are being installed north of Sea Spray Street/Andrianopoulos Park and near Browning Avenue. RRFBs are pedestrian-activated signals that display flashing yellow lights to alert drivers that a pedestrian is ready to cross. By state law, vehicles must stop at all marked crosswalks when a pedestrian is present.

The other seven existing pedestrian crossings are being upgraded by adding in-road lighting and overhead lighting.
This project is being constructed with a resurfacing project that extends from U.S. 1 (Ridgewood Avenue) to Davis Street (FPID No. 450666-1).
