The purpose of this project is to improve safety at the intersection along West Colonial Drive (State Road (S.R.) 50 ) at Westmoreland Drive for drivers and pedestrians.

Proposed improvements include reconstructing and upgrading the traffic signals, including new signal poles, and upgrades to the pedestrian signals to better accommodate pedestrians who are visually impaired and add new “Yield to Pedestrians” signs at the intersection.

Another safety improvement is the construction of a raised concrete traffic separator on West Colonial Drive east of the intersection. The separator will not affect any access to driveways and will help to better define the left turn lane.

Additional safety improvements to increase pedestrians mobility include the removal of an obsolete driveway apron and reconstruction of the existing curb and sidewalk.
