About
The goal of the project is to enhance safety and operations for all users and extend the service life of the roadway along the corridor. In addition to resurfacing this segment of S.R. A1A, the project will introduce subtle alignment shifts to help encourage safer driving speeds and enhance pedestrian safety. Traffic signal and lighting upgrades, as well as drainage improvements are included. The speed limit of 35 mph throughout the corridor will be reduced to 30 mph during construction and remain 30 mph after project completion.
Pedestrian safety enhancements include wider sidewalks, midblock crossings with pedestrian activated signals, and upgraded curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

S.R. A1A at Auditorium Boulevard Emergency Detour to Start Sept. 17: Motorists are advised that a detour of northbound State Road (S.R.) A1A at Auditorium Boulevard in Daytona Beach will be in place beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17.
The closure is tentatively scheduled to remain in place until 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 18. The southbound lanes will remain open.
This detour is necessary for emergency underground utility operations.
Detour information:
- Motorists traveling northbound on S.R. A1A will be directed to turn westbound on to Main Street, turn northbound onto North Peninsula Drive, turn eastbound onto Ora Street to S.R. A1A where motorists can turn northbound to return to S.R. A1A.

Beginning Friday, Sept. 12: Motorists can expect an outside single lane closure on northbound State Road (S.R.) A1A at the intersection of S.R. A1A and Auditorium Boulevard for paver removal.

Friday, Sept. 12 to Friday, Sept. 19: Motorists can expect continuous outside single lane closures on northbound and southbound State Road (S.R.) A1A from International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92) to Milsap Road for concrete removal and pouring, clearing and grubbing, limerock installation, curbing, paver removal, and drainage installation.
