About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will improve safety and traffic operations by
adding a traffic signal on North Harbor City Boulevard (U.S. 1/State Road (S.R.) 5) at the Pineda
Causeway (S.R. 404) eastbound ramps, along with dual right turn lanes at the Pineda Causeway
eastbound off ramp to North Harbor City Boulevard.

Additional work will include widening North Harbor City Boulevard to build a 12-foot-wide travel
lane approaching the new traffic signal at the Pineda Causeway eastbound ramps. The new
travel lane will eliminate the merging actions from drivers coming off the Pineda Causeway
westbound ramp to southbound North Harbor City Boulevard. This will increase safety and help
enhance traffic flow by reducing the number of ways vehicles can legally cross paths (known as
conflict points) and potentially collide. The installation of solar-powered wrong way signage, guardrail and drainage improvements, and new signage and pavement markings are also a part of this project.
