This project will include operational and safety enhancements, improving the flow of traffic, at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 5/ U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway in Flagler County by constructing a roundabout.
The roundabout design will accommodate two lanes in each direction on U.S. 1, including a bypass lane for southbound U.S. 1 traffic that is not headed to Old Dixie Highway or C.R. 325. The design also accommodates individual entrances to U.S. 1 from Old Dixie Highway and C.R. 325.
Construction will be completed in phases in an effort to maintain traffic flow on U.S. 1, C.R. 325 and Old Dixie Highway.

Thursday, November 21st, 2019 to Friday, January 31st, 2020
Starting Monday, Nov. 18, drivers traveling both northbound and southbound on U.S. 1 will now utilize the newly constructed roundabout, as follows:
- Northbound U.S. 1 traffic will continue north on U.S. 1 and can use either lane.
- Southbound U.S. 1 traffic will travel down the existing lane of the southbound roadway and enter the roundabout to continue south on U.S. 1.
- Northbound U.S. 1 traffic will use the right lane to access Old Dixie Highway or County Road (C.R.) 325.
- Southbound U.S. 1 traffic wishing to access Old Dixie Highway or C. R. 325 will travel through the roundabout to access the roadways.
This new traffic pattern will allow the contractor to complete the southbound U.S. 1 bypass lanes, and the southbound traffic separator at the roundabout. For more information about modern roundabouts please visit fdot.tips/roundabout
