About
This project involves permanent repairs to roadway on State Road (S.R.) A1A in Flagler Beach. Work on this nearly 1.5-mile segment will involve reconstructing S.R. A1A to include one lane of travel in each direction separated by a landscaped median. Drainage improvements, including a system of French drains, will be made to control water runoff and reduce undermining of the roadway. The sidewalk on the west side of S.R. A1A also will be reconstructed.

No parking will be permitted along the east side of S.R. A1A to accommodate increased vegetation of the dune, and the speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph.

This construction is a result of damage caused by Hurricane Matthew and is one of three segments of S.R. A1A in Flagler County receiving improvements. The other segments fall under project numbers 440557-5 and 440557-7. All three segments will be constructed under one contract at a total combined cost of about $22.4 million.
