About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is resurfacing and implementing safety improvements on Orange Avenue (State Road (S.R.) 527) from Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482) to Mandalay Road in Orange County.

There are two projects associated with these improvements. The focus of FPID: 441144-1 is to resurface Orange Avenue from Sand Lake Road to Prince Street in the Pine Castle neighborhood. This project will also include realigning crosswalks, closing gaps between sidewalk sections, and reconstructing curb ramps to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Other work includes improving drainage and pedestrian signals, installing signs and pavement markings, and reconstructing the concrete island at the southwest corner of the Sand Lake Road intersection.

FPID: 435733-1 is within the portion of Orange Avenue that splits into two one-way roads, with Orange Avenue serving southbound traffic and Hansel Avenue carrying northbound traffic. The project limits start at Prince Street and end at Mandalay Road in the City of Edgewood. Work includes resurfacing the existing roadway and modifying lane widths to accommodate 7-foot-wide buffered bike lanes. Additionally, the on-street parking will be more defined using concrete curb extensions, and the sidewalk will be upgraded in compliance with ADA requirements.
