About
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing State Road (S.R.) 44 bridge over the St. Johns River, also known as the Whitehair Bridge, with a high-level fixed span bridge. During construction, the existing S.R. 44 bridge will remain open for drivers to use while the new bridge is constructed to the south of the existing bridge. After construction, the existing bridge will be removed. This project is scheduled to start in July of 2020.
Lane Closures
  • Wednesday, July 29th, 2020 to Saturday, August 15th, 2020

    Thursday, August 6 - Friday, August 9 and Monday August, 10 - Friday, August 14, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., intermittent single lane closures on eastbound and westbound S.R. 44 for delivery of barrier wall.

    The closures will take place just east and west of the S.R. 44 Bridge, with flagging operations as the materials are delivered.
