Traffic Advisory: Traffic Shift Planned for Poinciana Boulevard at U.S. 17-92

Work to take place overnight on Thursday, July 9

Kissimmee, Fla. A traffic shift on Poinciana Boulevard at U.S. 17-92 is scheduled for Thursday night, July 9. Work to implement the shift will start at 10 p.m. and finish around 5 a.m. on Friday, July 10. Northbound and southbound lanes will shift east onto temporary pavement before returning to their normal configuration. The traffic pattern change will allow room for ongoing construction work at the northwest corner of the intersection. Additionally, the existing mast arm signals will be removed and replaced with temporary traffic signals.

While the crews work to shift traffic, off-duty police officers, electronic message boards and other signage will be present to direct traffic through the work zone. Please note this schedule can change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen U.S. 17-92 from Ham Brown Road (County Road 535) to west of Poinciana Boulevard.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at FDOT-D5COMM@dot.state.fl.us or by phone at 386-943-5479. Project information is also available online at CFLRoads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn't happen by accident.
