S.R. 35 Emergency Road Work Update

Marion County, Fla. Please be advised that a temporary traffic shift remains in place at the intersection of Baseline Road (S.R. 35) and Dogwood Road in Ocala while workers prepare to repair a sinkhole that developed two weeks ago. Traffic on Baseline Road has been shifted to one lane in each direction approaching this intersection, and the speed limit has also been reduced.

Repairs may start as soon as Monday, June 29 and are expected to be completed by late July, depending upon weather or unforeseen circumstances. Access will be maintained to businesses in the area during construction.

Another sinkhole located on the southbound side of Baseline Road near Poplar Road reopened on June 16. Currently, the roadway shoulder and sidewalk at this location remain closed while plans are finalized to fix this sinkhole as well.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the construction zone and allow extra time to navigate the area.
