Traffic Advisory: Southbound S.R. 35 Emergency Road Work Update

Marion County, Fla. Please be advised that the outside lane of southbound Baseline Road (State Road 35) from Aspen Road to Poplar Road has reopened. The roadway shoulder and sidewalk at this location remains closed.

The roadway here had previously been closed while we evaluated a sinkhole in the area. The Department continues to monitor the area and develop a plan for repair.

The location of this emergency work is approximately one mile south of another emergency road work on northbound Baseline Road due to a sinkhole that developed near the Dogwood Road intersection. At this time, the traffic shift remains in place at the Dogwood Road intersection and a contract for repair is being developed at this time.

Additional updates will be provided as available.   

Motorists are reminded to avoid distractions while driving and allow extra time to navigate the area.
