Major Traffic Pattern Change Scheduled for Sand Lake Road

Orlando, Fla. Drivers who use Sand Lake Road (State Road 482) should expect a new traffic pattern that will go into effect beginning Sunday evening, Feb. 23.

The contractor is moving eastbound traffic to the newly paved travel lanes on the south side of the road between Greenbriar Parkway and John Young Parkway. The full traffic shift is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24. The new configuration will allow the contractor to begin building the median area and inside travel lanes on Sand Lake Road.

Additionally, those who travel through this portion of Sand Lake Road should be aware of the new traffic signal just west of the Shingle Creek bridge at Kingspointe Parkway's east entrance. The old traffic signal for Kingspointe Parkway's west entrance will be removed. Please exercise caution when driving in this area.

Once the new signal is active, the Kingspointe Parkway west entrance will be closed for approximately two months while the intersection is reconstructed. All motorists must enter and exit from the newly signalized Kingspointe Parkway east entrance.

Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen and reconstruct Sand Lake Road from west of International Drive to east of Florida's Turnpike.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at FDOT-D5COMM@dot.state.fl.us or by phone at 386-943-5593. Project information is also available online at www.CFLRoads.com.
