New Traffic Pattern for Northbound and Southbound U.S. 1

Bunnell, Fla. Construction of the new roundabout on U.S. 1 at Old Dixie Highway near Bunnell will move into the next construction phase on Monday, Nov. 18 marking the start of a new traffic pattern on U.S. 1. To prepare for the traffic shift southbound U.S. 1 will be closed to through traffic from Seminole Woods Boulevard to south of Old Dixie Highway from 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, to 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18. During the closure, southbound U.S. 1 traffic will be directed to turn left onto Seminole Woods Boulevard, right onto State Road (S.R.) 100 and take southbound Interstate 95 (I-95) back to U.S. 1 (Exit 273). 

Starting Monday, Nov. 18, drivers traveling both northbound and southbound on U.S. 1 will now utilize the newly constructed roundabout, as follows:

• Northbound U.S. 1 traffic will continue north on U.S. 1 and can use either lane.
• Southbound U.S. 1 traffic will travel down the existing lane of the southbound roadway and enter the roundabout to continue south on U.S. 1.
• Northbound U.S. 1 traffic will use the right lane to access Old Dixie Highway or County Road (C.R.) 325.
• Southbound U.S. 1 traffic wishing to access Old Dixie Highway or C. R. 325 will travel through the roundabout to access the roadways.

This new traffic pattern will allow the contractor to complete the southbound U.S. 1 bypass lanes, and the southbound traffic separator at the roundabout. For more information about modern roundabouts please visit fdot.tips/roundabout.

Electronic message boards and other signage will be in place to alert drivers to the new pattern.
