S.R. 50 (State Road 50) Widening Open House Planned

Sumter County, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community to learn about the proposed widening of State Road (S.R.) 50 from east of U.S. 301 in Hernando County to east of County Road (C.R.) 478A in Sumter County at an open house on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The open house will be held at the Ridge Manor Community Center, 34240 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor, FL 33523, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to view project exhibits and a looping video presentation, speak with project team members, and provide input.

The project would widen S.R. 50 from two lanes to four lanes, and is part of a greater effort addressing existing and future congestion and delays, improving safety and traffic flow, and allowing the S.R. 50 corridor to operate at an improved level of service for all users. Bicycle and pedestrian facilities are also being evaluated as part of this project.
