Drive-Thru Open House Set for S.R. 60 Widening
Opportunity to learn about the proposed design and provide feedback

Yeehaw Junction, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a drive-thru open house regarding the proposed widening design of State Road (S.R.) 60 from U.S. 441 to east of the Florida's Turnpike, and the resurfacing of U.S. 441 from the Okeechobee County line to S.R. 60 in Osceola County.

The open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. outside the historic Desert Inn, 5570 S. Kenansville Road, Yeehaw Junction, FL 34972. Interested persons may drive up to the project tent any time during those hours to view project exhibits, speak with project team members, and provide input on the design.

The proposed design on S.R. 60 calls for widening the roadway to accommodate two 12-foot-wide travel lanes and a 12-foot-wide center turn lane within the project limits. The new center turn lane will help to alleviate congestion and improve operations between the Turnpike on and off ramps, and the U.S. 441 intersection. The improvements also adding a new traffic signal on S.R. 60 at the ramps to the Florida's Turnpike, as well as highway lighting.

The design proposed for U.S. 441 includes resurfacing all travel lanes, along with necessary roadside and drainage improvements.
