Series of Nighttime Closures at Colonial Drive Under I-4

Could Begin as Early as Tonight/July 31

Includes Continuous Closures of Colonial Drive Scheduled for Weekends of August 2 and 9

Orlando, Fla. Nearly three weeks of nightly closures on Colonial Drive (State Road 50) are required to continue major progress on construction of the new westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) travel lanes in downtown Orlando.

I-4 Ultimate construction crews will begin demolishing the old westbound travel lanes to make way for a new I-4 bridge over Colonial Drive. To safely remove the old bridge structure, crews will work at night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Colonial Drive directly under I-4 will be closed during these times. Interchange ramp access will be maintained for the duration of the closures.

In addition, continuous closures of Colonial Drive are scheduled on the weekends of August 2 and August 9. The continuous weekend closures begin at 10 p.m. Fridays and conclude by 5 a.m. Mondays.

Drivers can use Amelia Street as a detour under I-4. View or download a handout with a detour map at: https://fdot.tips/SR50close.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
