Continuous closure expected to last four days, followed by a new traffic pattern

Bunnell, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) wants to remind drivers of upcoming closures and detours at the roundabout construction project at U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway in Bunnell. Motorists are advised that County Road (C.R.) 325 and Old Dixie Highway will both be closed at U.S. 1 from 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14, through about 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18. During this time, traffic also will not be able to travel from C.R. 325 to Old Dixie Highway, or from Old Dixie Highway to C.R. 325.

Motorists also are advised that a new traffic pattern will be in place to access C.R. 325 and Old Dixie Highway once the roads are reopened. Access will be available only from northbound U.S. 1 using a new turn lane located south of the current intersection. Southbound U.S. 1 traffic heading to Old Dixie Highway or C.R. 325 will be directed to make a U-turn and return using northbound U.S. 1. Traffic heading from Old Dixie Highway or C.R. 325 to southbound U.S.1 will go north on U.S. 1 and make a U-turn.

The closure is needed to construct the Old Dixie Highway and C.R. 325 connections to the new roundabout on U.S. 1. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct traffic using the following detour routes:

C.R. 325: All traffic will be directed to take C.R. 325 north, turn right onto Slow Drift Turn, and left onto Sloganeer Trail to Seminole Woods Boulevard.

Old Dixie Highway

Access to Trojan Road will be maintained. Once C.R. 325 and Old Dixie Highway are open, the contractor will close Trojan Road to build that connection.

Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates are available on the project web page on www.cflroads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
