NEW DATE: New Configuration to Open as Soon as Morning of April 18

Orlando, Fla. The eastbound Interstate 4 (I-4) exit to South Street traffic shift is being pushed forward by a day--meaning the traffic movement that was supposed to happen overnight tonight (Tuesday night into Wednesday morning) will now be happening Wednesday night into Thursday morning, April 18.

The shift, when it occurs, will temporarily combine the eastbound South Street exit with the exit ramp to State Road (S.R.) 408, moving the South Street exit approximately one-quarter mile to the west. The temporary configuration will last roughly 18 months. The combined exit ramp will consist of two lanes with the right lane continuing to South Street and the left lane heading toward S.R. 408. This shift allows construction crews a safe workspace to demolish the old bridge over Division Avenue. The temporary ramp configuration is also necessary to continue construction of the new eastbound I-4 travel lanes through downtown Orlando.

The delay was needed for additional review of planning and logistics for the shift. If more time is needed, an update will be sent out with new information that will detail any modifications or extensions.

Additional resources, including a handout detailing alternate routes, are available at i4ultimate.com/exit82.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.
