Truck Detour to Start on U.S. 92 in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach Truck traffic on U.S. 92 (International Speedway Boulevard) will be taking a detour starting as early as Monday night, Feb 18, as a project to improve drainage gets underway. U.S. 92 will be closed to truck traffic between U.S. 1 and Nova Road/State Road (S.R.) 5A. Trucks will be directed to use Mason Avenue/S.R. 430, between Nova Road and U.S 1, instead.

The detour is needed as traffic is shifted and lanes narrowed on U.S. 92 to facilitate work between Charles Avenue and Helme Place. The detour is expected to be in place for several weeks as workers install new drainage pipe and structures along the south side of U.S. 92. To accommodate these construction activities, the contractor will shift traffic to the north side of the roadway, providing two 10-foot travel lanes in each direction through the work area. Activity will occur behind barrier wall, which also will block access to U.S. 92 from Marion Street. Single lane closures are scheduled on U.S. 92 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday to shift traffic and install the barrier wall.

Due to the narrower lanes, passenger vehicle drivers need to exercise care and stay alert.

Please note schedules may change due to weather or other circumstances. Electronic message boards and other signage will help to direct motorists. Updates are available on the project page of the FDOT Central Florida website, www.cflroads.com.
