All U.S. 17/92 Northbound Lanes Open in DeBary
All U.S. 17/92 Northbound Lanes Open in DeBary
Emergency repairs finished early
Volusia County Traffic is again able to use all northbound lanes of U.S. 17/92 through the City of DeBary, as emergency repairs finished two days early. The second lane was opened at 12:30 p.m. today.
Northbound lanes were closed due to a sinkhole that opened along the roadway late last month. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) issued an emergency contract on Aug. 27 that allowed 21 days for the emergency repairs. The major work included grouting operations, where a fluid concrete is injected to create a stable base underground. All total, 350 cubic yards of grout were pumped underground-equivalent to 35 fully loaded concrete mixer trucks.
For drivers and commuters who regularly use northbound U.S. 17/92, FDOT wishes to thank them for their patience while construction was underway.
In construction zones and always, please avoid distractions while driving. Stay alert. Put the phone down. It can wait.
