Eastbound S.R. 44 Detour at Amelia Avenue in DeLand

DeLand Drivers traveling on eastbound State Road (S.R.) 44/New York Avenue in DeLand can expect a detour to accommodate concrete repairs near the intersection with Amelia Avenue. The detour is expected to begin about 6 p.m. Friday, July 27, and last through Sunday, July 29.

Additionally, Amelia Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Rich and Howry during the same time. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

During the closure, eastbound S.R. 44 traffic will use Alabama, Howry and S. Arlington avenues as a detour. (Please see map attached.)

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to repair and replace sections of concrete roadway along S.R. 44 between Boundary and Hill avenues.

Electronic message boards will be used to alert motorists to lane closures and detours, and updates will be available on the FDOT's Central Florida website, www.CFLRoads.com. Media inquiries should be directed to the District Five Communications Office at 386-943-5479 or D5-PIO@dot.state.fl.us.

FDOT advises drivers to slow down and use extra caution in construction zones.
