U.S. 27 at Weston Hills/Holly Grove Boulevard Improvements Public Hearing

Lake County The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing regarding plans to improve safety along U.S. 27 at the intersection of Weston Hills Boulevard/Holly Grove Boulevard. The project addresses operational and safety concerns by converting the existing full median to a bi-directional median. This type of median guides traffic to its own dedicated turn lane instead of two directions of traffic trying to share the same turn lane. See graphic below.

These improvements mean that traffic entering U.S. 27 from both side streets will be converted to a right turn only lane. Left turns from U.S. 27 onto Weston Hills Boulevard and Holly Grove Boulevard will still be permitted, and sight lines will be improved due to the lack of vehicles stacking in the median.

The public hearing will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center. The meeting will begin as an open house where staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by public comments.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at 386-943-5479 or d5-pio@dot.state.fl.us.

Participants may provide verbal comments directly to a court reporter before and after the formal presentation. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing, sent by mail to Dave Mixon, FDOT District Five Traffic Operations, 719 S. Woodland Boulevard, M.S. 562, DeLand, FL 32720, or emailed to Dave.Mixon@dot.state.fl.us, no later than June 29, 2018. All comments written and oral will become part of the project's public record.

The draft project documents and other information will be available for public review from May 29 to June 29, 2018 at the Cagan Crossings Community Library, 16729 Cagan Oaks, Clermont, FL 34714.
