Reed Canal Road Near U.S. 1 Closure and Detour

Volusia County Drivers in South Daytona are advised that Reed Canal Road will be closed between Carmen Drive and U.S. 1/Ridgewood Avenue for approximately three weeks, beginning June 6. The Reed Canal Road entrances to the Bristol Bay Condominiums and Riverwood Village will be accessible.

The closure is expected to begin by 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, and continue through June 29 to accommodate roadway widening and reconstruction for the new turn lanes near the U.S. 1intersection. The road closure will expedite construction and allow the contractor to work during the day to reduce nighttime noise for nearby residents.

During the closure, the posted detour will use Carmen Drive, Ridge Boulevard and U.S. 1.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) intersection improvement project at the U.S. 1 intersection with Reed Canal Road. The work includes widening and lengthening the left turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to Sandy Circle and adding a right turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound Reed Canal Road. There also will be dedicated turn lanes created from Reed Canal Road into Bristol Bay Condominiums, as well as a new left turn lane from Reed Canal Road to northbound U.S. 1.

Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other circumstances, and if this happens, the closure may be rescheduled. Updates will be available on the Florida Department of Transportation's Central Florida website, http://www.CFLRoads.com.
