State Road (S.R.) 434 Closed in Oviedo

Drivers need to use a different route

Oviedo Travelers who normally use a section of State Road (S.R.) 434 in Oviedo, need to select different routes, as the roadway is closed just south of Black Hammock, at Laurel Oaks Court. There is an issue with an old drainage pipe that crosses under the road. A three foot wide hole formed in the road Saturday evening and engineers shut down this section of roadway, to through-traffic, for safety reasons. According to statistics obtained from FDOT's Florida Traffic Online, this section of roadway accommodates roughly 19,600 vehicles per day, on average.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is examining possible solutions to fix the pipe, and to reopen the roadway, safely and as quickly as possible. The suggested detour calls for traffic to use Tuskawilla Road and Red Bug Lake/Mitchell Hammock Roads as alternate routes. Mapping applications may take travelers a different way than the suggested detour.

FDOT advises drivers to follow the detour routes and to drive safely.
