Upcoming
Lane Closures on S.R. 46 near U.S. 441 in Mt. Dora
As Part of
Wekiva Parkway Construction
Mount
Dora – Motorists who travel on
State Road (S.R.) 46 in the Mount Dora area can expect alternating, daytime
single lane closures near U.S. 441 sometime next week through the beginning of
February. The lane closures will allow crews to remove traffic separators and
build temporary pavement as part of the Wekiva
Parkway (S.R. 429)
construction.
Flaggers
will direct traffic and electronic message boards are posted to alert drivers.
Weather or other unforeseen circumstances could delay or prolong work.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety
and that of the work crews.
Sections
3A and 3B are among the Florida Department of Transportation’s non-tolled road
projects that are part of building the Wekiva Parkway. The 3.8 miles of
improvements are in anticipation of the increased traffic in the area.
Work
includes widening S.R. 46 to six lanes from U.S. 441 to Round Lake Road, as
well as widening a small portion of Round Lake Road. U.S. 441 also will be
widened to six lanes from north of Natoma Boulevard to the Lake-Orange County
Line. The project will convert the current U.S. 441/S.R. 46 interchange into an
at-grade, signalized intersection with a flyover ramp.
Work
began on this $32.8 million project on October 30, 2017. Improvements will
include installing safety medians, turn lanes, sidewalks, drainage and other
roadway features. Work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2020.
