Signal Outage, Flagging Operations Planned for Railroad Crossings in Kissimmee

Osceola County Motorists traveling in downtown Kissimmee are asked to be alert to flagging operations at railroad crossings as SunRail changes over to upgraded crossing signals. During the switch, the signals and crossing arms will not be in use, so traffic will be stopped by flaggers to allow trains to pass.

The flagging operations will be in effect beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Poinciana Boulevard, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21. Flagging operations also will be in effect at the following crossings from 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21:

  • Magnolia Avenue
  • Oak Street
  • Park Avenue
  • Neptune Road
  • E. Dakin Avenue
  • E. Monument Avenue
  • Ruby Avenue
  • Beaumont Avenue
  • Clyde Street
  • Pleasant Hill Road
  • Crest Ridge Drive

Traffic will only be stopped for train traffic. Police officers will assist with traffic control at Oak Street, Neptune Road and Poinciana Boulevard.

The signal upgrade is part of the 17.2-mile SunRail south expansion project between the Sand Lake Road Station and Poinciana Station. The expansion includes construction of new track, as well as four new SunRail stations. During the signal outage, the new system will be activated and tested.

Please note that schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Updates can be found at www.cflroads.com, as well as www.sunrail.com.
