Traffic Alert

Sanford/Seminole County - Motorists who use a local road east of Sanford as a popular back way, will want to consider another route, as Richmond Avenue, near the intersection of S.R. 46 closes for two weeks. The closure is needed to install a pipe underneath Richmond Avenue. The closure begins tomorrow/Friday afternoon, November 3, 2017. Richmond Avenue is expected to reopen by Friday evening, November 17, 2017. Detours are in place.

The closure is part of a larger project calling for safety improvements to S.R. 46, extending from S.R. 415 to Cameron Wight Park. The safety improvements include audible pavement markings, widening turn lanes to accommodate bike lanes and some realignment to side streets. The overall project cost is $1.5 million and construction is set to conclude in early 2018.

Inclement weather or other conditions could change the construction schedule. For more information about this project, click here.

Please drive carefully, especially through construction zones.
