Detour of General Hutchison Parkway in Longwood, Seminole County
Motorists that regularly travel General Hutchison Parkway are advised of the extended closure of the road from U.S. 17/92 to east of Big Tree Park.
The closure of General Hutchison Parkway is necessary for construction crews to safely raise the road, construct the southbound phase of the bridge over Soldiers Creek and widen southbound U.S. 17/92 from Bill Ray Nissan to Shepard Road.
During the closure, General Hutchison Parkway may be accessed by one of two detours:
· U.S. 17/92 to westbound Ronald Reagan Boulevard or
· U.S. 17/92 to westbound State Road (S.R.) 434 to northbound Ronald
Unforeseen utility work, revisions to plans for retaining walls and some design modifications in this area of work caused delays to opening General Hutchison Parkway.
General Hutchison Parkway is anticipated to reopen by early December 2019 pending weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Sunday, October 20th, 2019 to Saturday, October 26th, 2019
Sunday – Friday, 7:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.: Alternating single lane closures on the inside and outside lanes on northbound and southbound US 17/92 from Lake Mary Boulevard to Shepard Road. Roadway improvements include asphalt paving, lane striping, barrier removal, and work with traffic signals.
Monday, October 21st, 2019 to Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019
Monday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Daytime left turn lane closures southbound US 17/92 at State Road (S.R.) 419. The contractor will close lanes for asphalt pavement repairs.
Monday, October 21st, 2019 to Friday, October 25th, 2019
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Left travel lane closure on southbound US 17/92 from ¼ mile south of Silkwood Court to Soldiers Creek Bridge. Contractors will be widening the median in this construction zone.
Wednesday, September 11th, 2019 to Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019
Avenue A at U.S. 17-92 will be closed for drainage work at this location. Traffic will be directed around the closure using Avenue B and Robert McLane Boulevard.
