The work taking place consists of removing the brick pavers and concrete from the intersection and replacing it with asphalt. There will be new curb and sidewalk poured, along with utility adjustments at this location. FDOT is coordinating with Volusia County to complete this work.
Northbound and southbound traffic on S.R. A1A will be maintained, however, temporary lane closures can be expected. Beach access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout construction. Pedestrian access will be limited throughout construction.

Beginning Monday, January 5: Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is implementing temporary roadway closures at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) A1A (Atlantic Avenue) and Auditorium Boulevard starting as early as from 7 a.m. Monday, January 5 to 5 p.m. Friday, January 9.
Throughout the closure period, access to Auditorium Boulevard from S.R. A1A will be restricted. Motorists on S.R. A1A wishing to reach this street will be detoured. Northbound and southbound traffic along the main line of S.R. A1A will be maintained, with at least one lane open in both directions.
These closures are necessary for the installation of a raised intersection on S.R. A1A at Auditorium Boulevard, continuing ongoing construction of raised safety features along this stretch of roadway in Daytona Beach. Raised intersections function like raised crosswalks, helping slow traffic and making pedestrians more visible to drivers as they approach.
In addition to these closures, temporary daytime and nighttime lane closures will be necessary to complete this work.
