There are no closures scheduled for the North Causeway Bridge at this time. Please continue to check this page for project updates. Any scheduled overnight closures of the North Causeway Bridge for this project will be posted here in advance.
It is important to note that, although the contract for this project is scheduled to be initiated on March 4, there will be no closures at the time of the project's commencement. The contractor will begin the project working underneath the bridge and preparing materials in their equipment laydown yard near the structure, which will not disrupt vehicle or marine traffic access. FDOT has taken care to plan the project's execution to minimize impacts to the commutes of New Smyrna Beach residents and visitors.
The North Causeway will remain open and accessible to vehicle traffic for the vast majority of the project duration, and closures are strictly confined to a maximum of eight weeknights throughout the entire project, occurring during overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. These closures will not be scheduled on Saturdays, Sundays, major holidays, or during special events. Marine traffic access will be maintained at all times.
During the closures on North Causeway, traffic will be directed to take the adjacent South Causeway by electronic message boards and other detour signage.
Due to the overnight hours and short duration of the anticipated closures, an alternative route will not be provided for low-speed vehicles, such as golf carts.
Please note that the construction schedule is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The Barracuda Bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Barracuda Boulevard, including the Barracuda Bridge, is closed from The Middle Way to Quay Assisi in New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County. This stretch of Barracuda Boulevard will remain closed until project completion, which is estimated to be Summer 2024. Motorists and pedestrians wishing to access the Marine Discovery Center and properties on Quay Assisi and adjacent side streets will be directed through a temporary detour route along Quay Assisi and North Causeway.
Watercraft access will be maintained during construction of the new Barracuda Bridge. However, there will be brief instances in which marine traffic access will be limited in the work zone for safety purposes. During these short closures, boaters are encouraged to use the channel below North Causeway to access Indian River North.
