Sunday, May 12, through Friday, May 17, from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. nightly, Motorists should expect alternating single lane closures on northbound and southbound S.R. 415 from S.R. 44 to Acorn Lake Road for paving operations. The contractor will be utilizing flagging operations to guide traffic around the lane closures. Traffic may be delayed up to 15 minutes at a time in either direction during flagging operations. Motorists are encouraged to plan their commutes accordingly.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists and pedestrians of a nighttime closures of the North Causeway (State Road 44) moveable bridge over the Indian River, also known as the Coronado Beach Bridge. From Monday, May 13 through Thursday, May 16, the closures are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate the replacement of hydraulic cylinders within the bridge. A detour will be in place for vehicle traffic; marine traffic access will be maintained at all times.

DETOUR: Drivers who wish to access the North Causeway Bridge will be redirected by electronic message boards and other signage to take the adjacent South Causeway Bridge to their destination, as shown in the attached detour map.

Local traffic will still be able to access properties along North Causeway between Riverside Drive and the North Causeway Bridge during the closure. Given the overnight timing of the closures, an alternative route for low-speed vehicles such as golf carts will not be provided.

Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and allow extra travel time to reach your destination. 

The construction schedule is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Sunday, May 5, to Thursday, May 9, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. daily, intermittent inside and outside lane closures on S.R. A1A southbound and eastbound and westbound U.S. 92 (International Speedway Blvd) for drainage installation.

Sunday, May 12, through Friday, May 17, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, the contractor will conduct nighttime moving operations intermittently along all project roadway segments.

Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days, single lane closure on westbound State Road 44 (New York Avenue W) between just east of the power lines and Linda Drive for shoulder construction.

Starting May 20, 2024, Old New York Avenue (County Road 4110) under the new bridge structure near Shady Oak Restaurant and Captain Jed's Airboat Rides will be closed for approximately three weeks. This closure is necessary to facilitate the reconstruction of the roadway underneath the new State Road 44 Bridge. During this period, a detour will be in place to guide motorists to their destinations. Drivers will be directed by video message boards and other signage to follow the designated detour route as follows:

DETOUR: Motorists wishing to access local residences and businesses along Old New York Avenue (County Road 4110) under the bridge will be detoured down New York Avenue (S.R. 44) and South Shell Road by signage.

The travel lanes on US 17 from SR 15A to south of Spring Street have been reduced to one inside lane in each direction from north of Retta Street to Spring Street for paving operations at the U-turn locations. The median crossover at Reynolds Road/Wheeler Street will remain open during this work.

The Barracuda Bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Barracuda Boulevard, including the Barracuda Bridge, is closed from The Middle Way to Quay Assisi in New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County. This stretch of Barracuda Boulevard will remain closed until project completion, which is estimated to be Summer 2024. Motorists and pedestrians wishing to access the Marine Discovery Center and properties on Quay Assisi and adjacent side streets will be directed through a temporary detour route along Quay Assisi and North Causeway.

Watercraft access will be maintained during construction of the new Barracuda Bridge. However, there will be brief instances in which marine traffic access will be limited in the work zone for safety purposes. During these short closures, boaters are encouraged to use the channel below North Causeway to access Indian River North.
