The purpose of the project is to provide crash reduction countermeasures at the intersection of Orange Avenue (State Road (S.R.) 527) and Clay Avenue in Orlando. The project is based on a request from the FDOT, District 5 Safety Office, to implement the roundabout recommendation of the “Corridor Safety Study” on S.R. 527 from Clay Avenue to South Orlando Avenue (U.S. 17/92). The study also included a lane reduction, addition of bicycle lanes, and signal reconstruction which is to be completed separately under Project Number 445691-1.
