This project involves construction of a buried seawall along S.R. A1A in Flagler County. The wall will help protect the roadway from future storm events. The seawall will be concealed by additional sand and vegetation. Construction also will include the addition of a small swale between the roadway and dune to help control water runoff and reduce erosion.

Parking will be prohibited along the east side of S.R. A1A.

This construction is a result of damage caused by Hurricane Matthew and is one of three segments along S.R. A1A in Flagler County receiving repairs. The other two segments are covered under project numbers 440557-5 and 440557-6. All three segments are being constructed under one contract with a combined total cost of about $22.4 million.
