The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is widening NE 36th Avenue in Ocala from two to four lanes from NE 20th Place to north of NE 25th Street.

The project also calls for construction of bridges over the CSX railroad crossing and a new access road. Work will also include clearing land, realigning NE 24th and NE 25th streets, adding storm water retention ponds, adding turn lanes at multiple locations, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, 20-foot-wide grassed medians and concrete medians near the bridges, drainage, lighting and signalization improvements, various pedestrian features to comply with the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and updated signage and pavement markings.
