Orange County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a public hearing for the Access Management design project on US 441 from south of Taft Vineland Road to south of the Beachline Expressway (State Road 528) in Orange County. The hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social and economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.
This project is being designed to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and achieve an acceptable level of service while minimizing potential impacts. The change in access management will be implemented with the use of raised medians to improve safety. Other improvements proposed as part of this project are updating sidewalk connections and crossings to conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as improved pavement markings.
The hearing will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Days Inn, 9301 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, Florida 32837. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:00 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:00 p.m., after which participants may provide their verbal comments to all present. The hearing ends at 7:00 p.m. Staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. Notices are being sent to all property owners located within at least 300 feet on either side of the project corridor, and to other public officials, organizations, and individuals interested in the project.
Participants may also provide verbal comments directly to a court reporter before and after the formal presentation. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing, be sent by mail to Leonel Cortes, P.E., FDOT Project Manager, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, Deland, Florida 32720, or by e-mail at Leonel.Cortes@dot.state.fl.us.
