St. Johns River Railroad Drawbridge Opens to Marine Traffic

Sanford – The Florida Department of Transportation today announced that the railroad drawbridge spanning the St. Johns River between Volusia and Seminole counties is now open to all marine traffic. The bridge was closed in the locked position on August 16, while necessary repairs were made to the span. That work was expected to last about two weeks. However, unforeseen conditions culminated in early termination of the work. The span is expected to undergo a major overhaul in October, and additional repairs will be made at that time.

Safety along the Central Florida rail system is a top priority for SunRail. Be Smart. Be Safe.
