FDOT hosts open house about State Road 40 widening, wildlife boxes, trail

Volusia County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have public information meeting to talk about the State Road (SR) 40 design project. The project’s limits are from SR 15/US 17 to west of SR 11  in Volusia County.

The meeting will be an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, at the Volusia Lodge No. 77, Free and Accepted Masons (F&AM), at the intersection of Pine Street and SR 40 in Barberville.

The project plans include:

·         Widening SR 40 to four lanes from SR 15/US 17 to west of SR 11

·         Improving the existing roadway

·         Adding four wildlife-crossing box culverts

·         Adding 12-foot wide, paved, multiuse trail on the south side of the road

The project is not funded for right of way or construction.

The purpose of this informal open house is to present the design concept of this project to the public. Project maps, drawings and other pertinent information will be on display for public review. FDOT staff will be available to answer questions.
