Public Meeting for a resurfacing project on SR50 from US441 to Shine Avenue

Orange County - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting a second public meeting regarding the resurfacing of State Road (SR) 50 (Colonial Drive) in Orlando.

The project consists of resurfacing 1.6 miles of SR 50 from just east of US 441 to Shine Avenue. The section of SR 50 between Lake Dot Circle and Orange Avenue is not included in this project and will be fully reconstructed as part the I-4 Ultimate Project.

The limits of milling and resurfacing on SR 50 will include all travel lanes, turn lanes, and parking lanes. Pedestrian upgrades will include new pedestrian signals with count down features and upgraded curb ramps to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements

The project will now eliminate the current on-street parking on both sides of SR 50 from Westmoreland Drive to Lake Dot Circle and add a designated bike lane in the space previously striped for parking.

The public meeting will be an open house Monday, June 22, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the J.B. Callahan Neighborhood Center,101 North Parramore Avenue, Orlando, Florida. The purpose of this meeting is to present the design concepts for this project to the public. Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A brief video presentation and other project information will be available throughout the evening.
