Race Fans: I-4 between DeLand and Daytona Beach is a work zone
DeLand—The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is suspending highway construction projects on major roadways across East-Central Florida during the 4th of July holiday. All major roads will be open to normal traffic. Still, motorists should use caution while traveling through work zones.
Fans heading to and from the Daytona International Speedway for the weekend races need to allow extra travel time and use caution in a 13 mile stretch of I-4 between DeLand and Daytona Beach, where I-4 is undergoing a roadway widening. The speed limit is 60 miles per hour in that area. Also be advised that local law enforcement may have detours around the Speedway after the races in order to manage the flow of traffic.
FDOT urges drivers and passengers to buckle up. It’s the law. FDOT and other safety agencies also ask drivers to obey speed limits, get adequate rest before traveling, avoid distractions, and never drink and drive.
