Widening of State Road 40 in Ocala
Marion County – Users of the western portion of State Road (SR) 40 in Ocala, will soon see early construction activities get underway in the section between Southwest 80th Avenue and County Road (CR) 328. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and D.A.B. Constructors, Inc., plan to start construction on May 28, 2014.
The $12.3 million construction job includes adding two lanes of traffic, new stormwater retention ponds, signal upgrades, bike lanes, and utility relocation, all within a distance of 4.035 miles. The estimated completion date is scheduled for fall 2015. Area residents, business owners, drivers, cyclists and all others, should be on the lookout for mostly daytime work with an occasional nighttime schedule. For this section of the road, lane closures are not allowed between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. within 600 ft. of a signalized intersection.
