Seminole County – Drivers who use US 17-92 in Seminole County this Saturday and Sunday will need to watch out for daytime construction, as paving occurs between Longwood and Sanford; covering about 3.5 miles, from just north of Shepard Road to just north of Lake Mary Boulevard. Daytime work is occurring because nighttime temperatures are getting below 65 degrees, which is affecting nighttime paving operations.

Crews will pave the outside lanes. Traffic will be moved to the inside lanes when that occurs. The contractor plans to have the friction course—the surface on which we drive—complete by the end of this weekend. Inclement weather could affect the schedule, however.

The contactor is Halifax Paving. The contract cost is roughly $2.35 million. The work began in late September.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) urges motorists to drive with care and caution in the construction zone. FDOT also says remember to buckle up. Safety belts save lives.
