Leesburg– Motorists need to be on the look-out for new traffic patterns on US 27 and US 441. Beginning Sunday, August 21 the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is opening the US 27 and US 441 new northbound connector. Monday, August 22, southbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound roadwayon US 27 between Williams Street and 500 feet north of Griffin Street to allow work on the roadway and water main lines.
The $7.6 millionroadway improvements project consists of intersection realignment at U.S. 441 and U.S. 27, widening the roadway, installing water mains along U.S. 441 from Lee Street to north of Griffin Road and reconstructing U.S. 27 from south of Shelfer Street to north of Griffin Road. The project is expected to be complete in Spring2011.
Motorists are urged to slow down, obey the posted speed limit and drive with caution through the work zone. Please be aware that construction schedules are subject to change based on weather, and other unforeseen circumstances.
