Detour on State Road 514/Malabar Road at Railroad Crossing

Malabar, Fla. Motorists should be aware of an upcoming week-long detour on Malabar Road (State Road 514) at the railroad crossing west of U.S. 1 beginning at 6 a.m., Saturday, June 20, until about 6 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, for railroad crossing work.

Traffic will be detoured to Babcock Boulevard, Valkaria Road, Palm Bay Road and U.S. 1. Detour signage is planned to direct motorists to the alternate routes.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing project support to Florida East Coast Railway, LLC., so they can safely conduct the work. These closures are necessary to upgrade the railroad crossings, which increases safety for both motor vehicles and train traffic. Construction times and schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other circumstances.
