Detours Scheduled at Lake Mary Boulevard and U.S. 17-92 Starting Friday

Sanford, Fla. From 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, to 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, motorists traveling through the intersection of U.S. 17-92 and Lake Mary Boulevard should expect a traffic pattern change, including detours on both eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard and southbound U.S. 17-92. The lane closures will allow crews to remove and replace concrete pavement on the roadway.

The detours are as follows:

Motorists traveling on southbound U.S. 17-92:

Both left turn lanes and two thru lanes will be closed on U.S. 17-92 at Lake Mary Boulevard heading eastbound. The right turn lane will also serve as a thru lane.

Crews will maintain the normal flow of southbound traffic on U.S. 17-92.

During the closure, drivers needing to access eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard will be directed to turn right onto westbound Lake Mary Boulevard, left onto southbound College Drive, left onto eastbound County Home Road, and back to U.S. 17-92 northbound to complete the detour to eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard (see attached map).

Motorists traveling on eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard:

Both left turn lanes and two thru lanes will be closed on eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard heading northbound on U.S. 17-92. The right turn lane will also serve as a thru lane.

Drivers that need to turn on northbound U.S. 17-92 from eastbound Lake Mary Boulevard will be directed to turn right onto College Drive, left onto County Home Road, and then left onto U.S. 17-92 (see attached map).

Access for businesses and residences along Lake Mary Boulevard will be maintained throughout the closures.

Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct motorists safely around the traffic changes. Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen U.S. 17-92 from four to six lanes from Shepard Road to Lake Mary Boulevard.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at FDOT-D5COMM@dot.state.fl.us or by phone at 386-943-5593. Project information is also available online at www.CFLRoads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn't happen by accident.
