SunRail Testing on the Corridor

Saturday and Sunday as part of Positive Train Control (PTC) Data Gathering

Volusia County This upcoming weekend, SunRail is conducting further testing related to the implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC). Drivers and passersby can expect to see SunRail train activity on the Central Florida Rail Corridor tracks between the St. John's River bridge and the City of DeLand. The testing is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8. The testing time is anticipated to occur from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

The testing includes uphill and downhill brake tests at defined speeds and grades to verify braking performance. The PTC test train is a longer train from what the public usually sees in the corridor. The test train consists of two locomotives, four coaches, and one cab car to simulate a fully-weighted SunRail train.

Please be careful around trains, railroad crossings, and while at station platforms. Be smart. Be safe. For more information about SunRail, including fares, schedule and station locations, please visit www.sunrail.com.
