State Road 518 Design Open House Scheduled

Melbourne, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold an open house regarding the design of operational and safety improvements on State Road (S.R.) 518 (Eau Gallie Boulevard) from west of Interstate 95 (I-95) to east of Sarno Road in Melbourne from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church also in Melbourne.

During the open house, attendees will have an opportunity to view a looping video presentation and project exhibits, speak with project team members, and provide input on the design. Proposed improvements call for widening Eau Gallie Boulevard to add an eastbound through lane, providing bicycle lanes in each direction, and upgrading auxiliary lanes. The project will widen the northbound I-95 off ramp, the southbound I-95 on ramp and the southbound I-95 off ramp to improve safety and operations at the interchange. Traffic signal modifications, sidewalk extensions, and drainage improvements are also planned.

Persons who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact the FDOT Project Manager Sam Jumber, P.E., by phone at 386-943-5244 or by email at samuel.jumber@dot.state.fl.us at least seven days prior to the meeting.
