Construction Starts on Wekiva Parkway Section 7A

Seminole County Construction is beginning this month along State Road (S.R.) 46 on Section 7A of the Wekiva Parkway. The construction limits extend from Longwood Markham Road to Orange Boulevard in Seminole County. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles and equipment moving into and out of traffic. Night and weekend work is also occurring during the project's lifetime.

The Wekiva Parkway (State Road (S.R.) 429), is connecting to S.R. 417; completing a beltway around Central Florida, while helping to protect the natural resources surrounding the Wekiva River. This $108.3 million project has non-tolled and tolled roadway sections, slip ramps to enter and exit the Wekiva Parkway and 12 overpasses. Also included are roundabouts, lighting, sidewalk, and bike lanes.

Initial activity includes excavating and relocating gopher tortoises to state licensed recipient sites. Other initial work is clearing and grubbing, utility relocations, placing silt fence to protect against erosion, installing drainage, and building retention ponds.

Construction is scheduled to finish in 2022. Please note schedules may change due to weather or other circumstances. Updates are available on www.wekivaparkway.com, www.cflroads.com and by following the project on Facebook and Twitter (@WekivaPKWYinfo).
