FDOT hosts public hearing about planned capacity improvements along State Road (SR) 600/US 17/92
Osceola County – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public hearing about planned capacity improvements along State Road (SR) 600/US 17/92 in Osceola County, Florida. The public hearing will 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2 at The Vine Church, 1003 South John Young Parkway, Kissimmee, FL 34741. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:00 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:00 p.m. Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions before and after the presentation.
Improvements being proposed as part of this design project are the widening of SR 600 from four to six lanes for approximately 2.4 miles from south of Pleasant Hill Road to West Portage Street, the addition of a two-way flyover with one lane in each direction between the east leg of SR 600 and Pleasant Hill Road, and median modifications at select intersections.
This project is being designed to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and achieve an acceptable level of service while minimizing potential impacts. The change in access management will be implemented by modifying some of the existing median openings to improve safety and traffic operations. Right-of-Way acquisition is partially funded for 2018, and construction costs are currently not funded.
