EB Maitland Blvd traffic shift scheduled to kick off this weekend
ORLANDO — A traffic shift of eastbound Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) between State Road 434 and westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) will proceed as scheduled this weekend.
Crews will be working throughout the weekend to have the traffic shift in place for morning commuters on July 18. In addition to the traffic shift, a new ramp from eastbound Maitland Boulevard to westbound I-4 will be opened.
The existing westbound I-4 entrance ramp from eastbound Maitland Boulevard will close tonight at 8 p.m. and will remain closed until the new westbound I-4 on-ramp is opened the morning of July 18. In the event of rain or other unforeseen factors that prevent executing the switch, the old ramp will be reopened by 6 a.m. on Monday. A detour will be in place during the weekend and drivers wishing to access westbound I-4 from eastbound Maitland Boulevard are urged to follow the signs.
The eastbound lanes of Maitland Boulevard will be shifting to newly paved lanes, just south of the existing lanes. The new ramp will require motorists to choose if they want to continue on eastbound Maitland Boulevard or enter the westbound I-4 entrance ramp before they reach the intersection of Lake Destiny Road.
