ROAD CLOSURE ON EAST PALMETTO AVENUE IN LONGWOOD
East and Westbound Lane Detours
Longwood – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will close East Palmetto Avenue at the railroad crossing in Longwood for 24 hours in both directions, starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016. The closure is needed to install new concrete panels and new asphalt approaches at the railroad crossing to provide a smoother ride for motorists. The work is expected to be complete by 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time during this temporary closure. Please note that this schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions.
· Traffic east of the closure will be directed from East Palmetto Avenue to take a right onto North Grant Street and then a right turn onto East Church Avenue.
· Traffic west of the closure will be directed from East Palmetto Avenue to North Ronald Reagan Boulevard, take a left turn onto East Church Avenue, then a left turn to North Grant Avenue and a left turn onto East Palmetto Avenue.
Around railroad tracks, please be smart, and stay safe. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution, obey all railroad and traffic signals, and look both ways before approaching a railroad crossing and when accessing SunRail platforms.
