Eastbound I-4 lane shifts planned at SR 44
County – The Florida Department of Transportation and its
contractor, The deMoya Group, will shift the eastbound lanes of Interstate 4
(I-4) between State Road 44 and US 92 from the westbound roadway, back to the
newly-constructed eastbound roadway just east of SR 44, tonight, Monday, March
14. The westbound lanes will remain in their current configuration.
To accommodate the
shift, motorists should expect lane closures along I-4 eastbound to begin
around 8 p.m. for barrier wall relocation and striping.
The shift is part
of the project which widens 12.34 miles of highway from four to six lanes. The
project reconfigures the I-4 and US 92 interchange, and includes three animal
motorists to use caution when traveling through construction zones and be aware
of changing traffic patterns. Electronic message boards and other signs
will be used to assist drivers.
